Holika Dahan aur Dhulandi

Holi in 2011 will start on Saturday, the 19th of March will be Holika Dahan and will continue for 2 days until Sunday, the 20th of March that will be Dhulandi.

Holi is celebrated on the Phalgun Purnima (or Pooranmashi, Full Moon) in the month of Phalgun according to the Hindu Calendar.

Basant Panchami on 8th February

This Year Vasant Panchami Will Be Celebrated OnTuesday 8th february.

Vasant Panchami also known as Basant Panchami or Shree Panchami” . This Hindu festival celebrating Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and art. It is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the Hindu Panchang Month Magh.There are many  Tradition follos on this day. 1  During this festival children are taught to write their first words , 2. Brahmins are fed. 3.  Ancestor worship (Pitr-tarpan) is performed, 4. the god of love Kamadeva is worshipped.

Many Schools, Colleges, educational institutions organise special prayer for Saraswati. The color yellow also plays an important role in this festival, in that people usually wear yellow garments, Saraswati is worshipped dressed in yellow, and yellow sweets are consumed within the families.
